Millennium Ecosystem Assessment
The MA was called for by the United Nations in order to assess the consequences of ecosystem change for human well-being as well as the scientific basis for action needed to enhance the conservation and sustainable use of those systems. North American Benthological Society
The NABS is an international scientific organization established for the purpose of promoting better understanding of the biotic communities of lake and stream bottoms and their role in aquatic ecosystems, achieving this through the provision of media, distributing research results, new interpretations, and other benthological information to aquatic biologists and others working in the area.
