A city in and the county seat of Raleigh County, West Virginia. Among its many nicknames are the "Smokeless Coal Capital" "The City of Champions" and the "Gateway To Southern West Virginia." It was named after the first House of Representatives' clerk and first Librarian of Congress John James Beckley.
