The city of Monticello is the seat of San Juan County, Utah. It was settled in the summer of 1887 by pioneers belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was named after the beloved estate of Thomas Jefferson and was incorporated as a city in 1910.
