Until 1951, the Colorado River plunged over the falls, located just up river from the present Highway 281 bridge, then covered by the waters of Lake Marble Falls when the Max Starcke Dam was built. When the LCRA lowered the lake level, the falls could once again be seen, although partially covered by silt. The FOCM features a collection showing many views of the river, the falls, and the part they played in the lives of local residents before 1951.
