Located in Brazoria County, Clute is the hub of Brazosport, a multi-city community located in South Texas at the mouth of the Brazos and San Bernard rivers. The original name to the settlement was Eagle Island Plantation, which was renamed in honor of Solomon J. Clute, who became the majority property owner in 1881.
