Incorporated in 1908, Lemmon is a city in Perkins County, South Dakota. The city is named for George Edward Lemmon, a cattle rancher who came to the area in 1902, settling on the L-7 ranch, which was located near the present site of Lemmon, creating what was then the largest fenced pasture in the world.
