Philadelphia, the county seat of Philadelphia County in Pennsylvania, is nicknamed "The City of Brotherly Love." Originally named New Sweden, it was founded by William Penn himself in 1682. It played a key part in the American independence and its war, primarily because of Benjamin Franklin's role in both the city and the revolution. It was the nation's first capital.
