The incorporated town of Thackerville is in south-central Love County, Oklahoma, located about five miles north of the Texas state line. The town was founded by Zachariah Thacker in the mid 1800s, who built a corn mill near Wolf Hollow Creek in what was then Pickens County, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. When Thacker died in 1887, the community moved southeast to its current location in order to be nearer the railroad. The town was incorporated in 1899.
