Stroud, Oklahoma is in eastern Lincoln County. The town originated in 1892, when James Wrexel Stroud built a store and post office one mile west of the current townsite, moving to be on the railroad route. The headquarters of the Sac and Fox Nation is located south of Stroud, and within the Stroud post office area. Stroud is located along the historic Route 66.
