Located northeast of Oklahoma City, Spencer, Oklahoma was one of the earliest towns in the region that was opened to settlement by non-Indians through the Land Run of 1889. The town was developed just east of the North Canadian River in 1901 by Louis and Henry Kramer, who came to the area from Spencer County, Indiana.
