Located in northeastern Comanche County, the small town of Fletcher, Oklahoma was founded in 1902, and named for Fletcher Dodge, who gave half of his 160-acre homestead for the new townsite. Although the extension of the railroad through the area spurred development, a depot was not built until 1904, and at the expense of the townspeople.
