Arapaho is the seat of Custer County, Oklahoma. Named for the Arapaho tribe, the town was established in 1892, when the Cheyenne and Arapaho lands were opened for settlement. A post office was established that same year, and the town was named the county seat of G County, which became Custer County in 1896.
