A northern suburb of Columbus, Worthington, Ohio is a city in Franklin County. The planned community was founded by the Scioto Company, led by James Kilbourne, in 1803, and named for Thomas Worthington, one of Ohio’s first two senators and future governor. Worthington is situated along the Whetstone River, which is now known as the Olentangy River. Incorporated as a village in 1835, Worthington became a city in 1954, after annexing the Colonial Hills subdivision.
