Formed from portions of Windham Township, one of the original townships of the Connecticut Western Reserve, Windham is a village in Portage County, Ohio. Prior to 1811, the land comprising the village and township was owned by Caleb Strong. In 1810, the land was purchased by the Beckett Land Company, divided into lots, and the township was surveyed, although it was originally named Strongsburg, then Sharon, before being changed to Windham in 1829. The village was incorporated in 1892.
