A suburb of Cleveland, Willowick is a city in Lake County, Ohio. Its name was derived from the combination of two adjacent cities, Willoughby and Wickliffe. Between the years of 1788 and 1839, the community belonged to five different counties, becoming part of Lake County when it was established in 1840. From the late 1800s to the early 1900s, Willowick was known as Willoughby-on-the-Lake and the Village of Willoughbeach.
