Westlake, Ohio is a city in Cuyahoga County and an affluent suburb of Cleveland. The area was first settled in 1810 as part of Dover Township. The northern part of the township seceded in the early 1910s to form Bay Village and, in 1912, a southern part of the township voted to join North Olmsted, while the remainder of the township formed Dover Village in 1913, along with portions of Olmsted Township. Dover Village was renamed Westlake in 1940, becoming a city in 1957.
