Named for one of the principle chiefs of the Ottawa Nation, the city of Wauseon is the seat of Fulton County, Ohio. The first white settler was John Newcomer, who came to the area in 1844, building a log cabin and then a farm. The town was laid out and incorporated as a village in 1854, named the county seat in 1870. Wauseon is west of Delta and South Delta, and northeast of Archbold.
