Washington Court House is a city in Fayette County, Ohio, and serves as the county seat. Until 2002, the city’s name was Washington, but a municipality by that name existed in Guernsey County, so its name was changed. The area was originally settled by Virginia war veterans who had received the land from the government as payment for their services in the American Revolution. The city’s name is often abbreviated as Washington C.H.
