Venedocia, Ohio is a village in Van Wert County. The community was settled primarily by Welsh immigrants in the 1830s and 40s. At the time, the area was covered by a dense forest. Among the first families were those of William Bebb, who would later become governor of Ohio, Thomas Moris and J.R. Jervis. A Mr. Clark built the first grist mill, while the community’s first gunsmith was John Heath, and John McConn was the first shoemaker. Benjamin Griffin built the first frame house in Venedocia.
