The city of Urbana, Ohio is the seat of Champaign County. The community was laid out in 1805, becoming the headquarters of the Northwestern Army during the War of 1812. The town’s founder, William Ward, named Urbana after the word “urbanity”. The city is home to Urbana University. Urbana is north of New Moorefield, northwest of Mechanicsburg, south of Lippincott, and east of Nettleton.
