The Cuyahoga County city of University Heights borders Beachwood to the east, Cleveland Heights to the west, South Euclid to the north, and Shaker Heights to the south. Incorporated as Idlewood Village in 1908, the community was originally part of Warrensville Township. The village’s name was changed to University Heights when John Carroll University moved to the area in 1925, attracting population growth leading to the village becoming a city in 1940.
