Richfield is a village and a township in Summit County, Ohio. The area that was to become Richfield was part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. Om 1795, it was sold to six individuals, including Colonel Benjamin Tallmadge, Captain John Smith, John Wilcox, Uriel Holmes, and two men named Edwards and Green. Later, two brothers, Heman and Nathaniel Oviatt, bought a quarter of the township. These men visited the area, but the first white settler was Lancelot Mays, who arrived in 1809.
