Perrysburg, Ohio is a city situated along the Maumee River in Wood County. Although Perrysburg was founded before the larger city, it is now a suburb of Toledo. Fort Meigs was constructed in the area in 1813, shortly after the outbreak of the War of 1812. Early settlers fled to Huron during the war, but returned to settle near the fort, calling the new settlement Orleans. Perrysburg was platted in 1816.
