Oberlin, Ohio is a city in Lorain County. The community was founded in 1833 by two Presbyterian ministers, John Jay Shipherd and Philo P. Stewart, who set out to create a religious community and a school to train Christian missionaries to the American frontier. Oberlin College continues to be the largest employer in Oberlin.
