Oakwood is a city in Montgomery County, Ohio. Incorporated in 1908, the city is entirely land-locked by the surrounding cities of Dayton and Kettering. Prior to its founding as a community, the area was primarily farmland on a hill south of Dayton. In 1913, a flood devastated downtown Dayton, prompting building on the higher land of Oakwood. An early resident of the city was Orville Wright, whose home still stands at the corner of Harman and Park Avenues.
