The city of New Albany, Ohio is situated mostly in Franklin County, with a small portion extending into Licking County. The community was founded in the center of Plain Township in 1837 by Nobel Landon and William Yantis. Prior to being named New Albany, the settlement was known as Hope. New Albany was incorporated as a village in 1856.
