Milan, Ohio is a small village whose boundaries span both Erie and Huron counties. The village was platted by Ebenezer Merry in 1817, on the site of an old Moravian Indian mission village. The village was incorporated in 1833, in advance of the beginning of construction on the Milan Canal, which began that same year. Milan was the birthplace of inventor, Thomas Alva Edison, and the small brick home in which he lived until the age of seven serves as a museum today.
