Luckey is the only incorporated village in Troy Township, Wood County, Ohio. The community was surveyed by Charles Roberts in 1820, and settled in the early 1830s, although some people were there as early as 1800. The community was named for Captain James B. Luckey, who built a sawmill and factory there in 1879. The village’s first postmaster was George Luckey. The community is said to have first been named Luckeyville, later shortened to Luckey.
