Louisville, Ohio is in Stark County, within Constitution Township and surrounded by Nimishillen Township. Louisville was formally settled by Henry Lautzenheiser, a German immigrant, in 1834, and named for his son, Lewis. Originally named Lewisville, the spelling of the community’s name was changed with its first post office was established, as another post office by that name existed. Louisville incorporated as a village in 1872, becoming a city in the 1950s.
