The Ohio city of Lima, the county seat of Allen County, was settled after the 1794 Treaty of Greenville. After being consigned to reservations in 1817, the Shawnee Indians were forced to surrender their land to the United States and were relocated to Kansas, which is when the white settlers proliferated. The city is named after the capital of Peru.
