The City of Huron is in Erie County, Ohio. The community was at the “Firelands” of the Connecticut Western Reserve, which were lands offered to residents of Connecticut who had lost property to British raiders during the Revolutionary War. Its first settler was John Baptiste Flemmond, who established a trading post along the east bank of the Huron River in 1792. Both the village and the township of Huron were incorporated in 1809.
