Higginsport, Ohio is a small, rural village in Brown County. The community is situated in the part of Ohio that was part of the Virginia Military Lands, an area that was set aside as payment for the services of Revolutionary War veterans of the colony of Virginia. The village was founded by Colonel Robert Higgins, a veteran who received a thousand acres for his services, and was platted in 1816.
