Greenville, Ohio, a city in Darke Couty, is the county seat there. It is located on the site of the pioneer fort built by General “Mad” Anthony Wayne. Named for General Wayne's brother in arms and friend General Nathanael Greene, Fort Greene Ville was the largest wooden fort ever built and is where the Treaty of Greenville was signed in 1795, making the Northwest Territory settlements possible.
