Situated along the East Branch of the Black River, Grafton is a village and a township in Lorain County, Ohio. The region was settled in 1816, when Jonathan and Grindall Rawson moved to a 160-acre section of land purchased by their father, settling on what was to become Grafton Township. In 1846, the village was platted as a station along the railroad. Although the village's name was changed to Rawsonville in 1852, it was renamed Grafton when it was incorporated in 1877.
