Gahanna, Ohio is in Franklin County. The city was founded along the Big Walnut Creek in 1849 by John Clark, who planned the town on eight hundred acres that his father had purchased from Governor Worthington in 1814. Clark named the new community Gahanna Plantation, which is a Native American word for an area where three creeks come together. In 1881, Gahanna and the adjacent village of Bridgeport joined together and incorporated as Gahanna.
