Situated in northwestern Ohio, Findlay is the seat of Hancock County, and the home of the University of Findlay. The city gets its name from a fort that was constructed on its site in 1812, serving as an outpost during the War of 1812, itself named for Colonel James Findlay. The community became a village in 1821, and was incorporated as a city in 1887. Tell Taylor write the song, “Down by the Old Mill Stream” while fishing along the Blanchard River in Findlay.
