Fairfield is a city and a township in Butler County, Ohio. The city was incorporated in 1955, withdrawing from Fairfield Township in 1994. The community's first settlers were veterans of the Revolutionary War who had served under General Arthur St. Clair and General Anthony Wayne. The community incorporated in 1955 to avoid annexation by nearby Hamilton.
