Named for Euclid, the Greek mathematician, Euclid, Ohio is in Cuyahoga County, bordering Cleveland. Euclid Township was one of the first communities established in the Western Reserve, incorporated in 1809. Its founder is thought to have been David Dille, who had been a lieutenant in the Revolutionary War. Euclid was incorporated as a village in 1877, rescinded a year later, and reincorporated in 1903, finally becoming a city in 1931.
