Englewood, Ohio is suburb of Dayton, and a city in Montgomery County. People began moving into the area around 1800, although Englewood was not founded until 1841, then named Harrisburg. Its first post office was established in 1870, discontinued in 1871, and reestablished in 1874, at which time the town was renamed Iamton, for Harvey Iams, the first postmaster. Due to a clerical error, the town was officially named Jamton. In 1898, the community was renamed Englewood.
