Eastlake is a city in Lake County, Ohio. A French trading post known as Charlton was established at the mouth of the Chagrin River in 1750, and the Chagrin Mill was built there soon after. In 1849, the community became known as the Village of St. John. Eastlake was incorporated as a village in 1949, and as a city in 1951.
