Situated along the Ohio River, bordering Pennsylvania and West Virginia, East Liverpool is a city in Columbiana County, Ohio. The community was initially named St. Clair by Thomas Fawcett, one of its earliest settlers. Later it was known as Fawcettstown, but was incorporated as East Liverpool in 1834, as a town in the western part of the state was named Liverpool, although that community is now defunct.
