Founded in 1812 by William Wetmore, and originally known as Manchester, Cuyahoga Falls is a city in Summit County, Ohio. Cuyahoga Falls is named for the Cuyahoga River, which flows into Lake Erie, and the series of waterfalls that run along the southern part of the city. The village was laid out in 1826, and incorporated in 1836. In 1851, the township of Cuyahoga Falls was created out of the village limits and, in 1984, Cuyahoga Falls merged with neighboring Northampton Township.
