Cheviot, Ohio is in west-central Hamilton County. The community was established around 1814, when a Scottish immigrant named John Craig bought a half section of 320 acres of Green Township, building a tavern and inn, then laying out the village he named after the Cheviot Hills of southern Scotland. The town was incorporated in 1901.
