Carrollton, Ohio is a village in Carroll County, and is the county seat. The community was established at the crossroads of the Steubenville to Canton Road and the New Lisbon to New Philadelphia Road in 1815, and first known as Centreville. Its name was changed to Carrollton when it became the county seat in 1834. Many of the Fighting McCooks of Civil War fame were from Carrollton, and the Daniel McCook House is listed as a National Historic Place.
