Carroll, Ohio is a village in Fairfield County, seven miles north of Lancaster. The community was laid out at the junction of the Ohio and Erie Canal and the Hocking Canal; and, since the canals came together at an angle, the village’s streets were set up on the bias. The village was named for Charles Carroll of Maryland, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
