Canton is the seat of Stark County, in northeastern Ohio. Canton was founded in 1805, along the West and Middle Branches of the Nimishellen Creek, Canton became an industrial center because of its location, and due to several railroad lines that came through the city. The community was first incorporated in 1822 as a village, becoming a city in 1838. Canton is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
