Bryan, Ohio is the seat of Williams County. The area was settled in 1840 and incorporated as a village in 1841, then as a city in 1941. Originally, Bryan was part of Defiance County, with Defiance as the county seat. Then the seat was moved to Bryan, and the county was split into Williams and Defiance.
