Bremen was founded by George Berry in 1834, and named for his father-in-law’s hometown of Bremen, Germany. Bremen is an incorporated village in Fairfield County, Ohio. The community was a service center for local farmers throughout the 1800s, then oil was discovered in 1907, resulting in an oil boom that lasted until the mid 1920s.
