Bay Village began as the Village of North Dover, when it split from Dover Township in 1901. A few years later, it was renamed Bay, thus becoming the Village of Bay. When it became a city in 1950, it took the name Bay Village. The City of Bay Village, Ohio is in Cuyahoga County.
