Austinburg is an unincorporated community in Ashtabula County, Ohio. After Judge Eliphalet Austin was bitten by a mad dog, his doctor advised him to travel in order to take his mind off the probability that he would die soon. He never did develop rabies, but instead helped to found a settlement called Austin’s Camp in 1799, along with a group of people who came together as the Connecticut Land Company.
